TECHNICAL LANGUAGE CAN BE A REAL PAIN

By

Do you struggle with getting the help you need?

I wouldn’t call myself a computer guy. Of course, I use them at work and at home. The programs are ones of which I am familiar and know how to use. But if there is a problem, hardware or software related, mostly I’m out of my element. At those times I’ll try to find answers on Google. Often the so-called fixes end up leaving me even more confused. For fairly simple things I have some people to call and they can be quite helpful, which I appreciate and reciprocate by getting upgrades or in-house service.

Sometimes, and this is why I’m writing this, the computer people start to speak a different language full of terms and processes of which I am unfamiliar and have no interest in knowing. I just want my computer to run properly again. I’ll say to them, “Listen, I’m in the car wash supply business. If you would like to discuss pumps, or solenoids, coin acceptors, or bill changers, great, I’m all in. But if you need to get so technical, I would need to take a course, forget it.” At this point, I need a service call to get the thing working again.

The point of all this is when you, our customer, have a problem, call in. We will listen to the problem, ask some questions about what exactly is happening, and discuss it with you in terms you can understand. Sometimes we’ll ask you to send pictures of the problem so we can be looking at whatever it is that’s acting up. Some things may be beyond your comfort zone or personal ability to correct. Not everyone wants to get involved tearing down a pump or fixing a digital display that got wet. If it is possible, we’ll ask that you send the item in and we can repair it here. If it is a system problem and we can’t get if fixed over the phone, we can send a tech out to get you running again. If you are out of our reasonable service area, which is within a seven to eight-hour drive, we may be able to speak with someone in your area about the problem and have them fix it.

So, call us. With today’s technology, internet, cell phone cameras, and video, it is much easier to get the help you need when problems crop up. And if it’s replacement pieces you need, we ship daily with couriers and Canada Post, items which have reached the end of their life and need to be replaced.
